TORONTO, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas recorded 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in the team’s 95-83 road victory over the New York Knicks in NBA action on Friday night.
His previous career high was 13 rebounds, recorded on six different occasions, the most recent occurring in the team’s Dec. 20 victory against the Dallas Mavericks.
The 2.13-meter Valanciunas was drafted fifth overall in the 2011 draft and missed the 2012 season to play in native Lithuania before joining the Raptors last season.
He averaged 8.9 points and 6.0 rebounds in 62 games last season.
This season, Valanciunas has started in all 27 games for Toronto, averaging 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds.
