Raptors continue overtime struggles, fall to Bulls

TORONTO, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) — The Toronto Raptors continued their struggles in overtime games in a 107-105 loss against the Chicago Bulls in NBA action on Wednesday night.

The loss drops Toronto’s record to 0-3 in overtime at home and 1-3 overall this season. The other two losses at home were against the Spurs in double overtime and the Jazz in triple overtime.

Raptors head coach Dwane Casey is frustrated with the overtime loss, but is satisfied with the effort level.

“It’s tough,” said Casey during the post-game press conference. “We missed nine free throws and that is huge; but I commend our guys for the way they competed. Everyone stepped onto that court competed.”

One of the key players that competed was Raptors guard Kyle Lowry. Lowry believes that these close games will eventually result in success down the line.

“This is a game we could have had but some balls didn’t bounce our way. We just have to get back out there and get back on the winning track,” said Lowry after the game. “It’s a good team we just lost to.”

In total, the Raptors have played 92 total overtime games in their 18 years of existence. Seven games have reached double overtime and five in triple overtime.

The team holds a losing record in all three scenarios: 3-4 in double overtime games, 1-4 in triple overtime games and 33-47 in single overtime games for an overall record of 37-55.
