Raptors beat Pistons, double win total in 6 days

TORONTO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) — The Toronto Raptors defeated the Detroit Pistons 97-91 in NBA action on Wednesday night in a victory which was the fourth consecutive for the Raptors, who doubled their win total from four to eight in less than a week.

This is the first time the team has pulled off such a feat since the period of November 17-24.

“There’s a million of different ways to win or lose a game. Right now, we’re finding ways to win,” said Raptors head coach Dwane Casey during the post-game press conference. “Now we’re believing we can win. We trust in each other (and) pulling for each other.”

The victories have also helped the Raptors climb up the standings from as low as second worst in the 15-team Eastern Conference to 12th place.

Raptors guard Jose Calderon believes the winning streak has positively affected the team chemistry in the locker room.

“We realize the way we have to play to be successful,” said Calderon. “We’re just really happy to see this team and everybody smiling out there.”

Forward DeMar DeRozan believes that confidence has always been there and it was all about playing for an entire game.

“We always had confidence. We just had to put it all together and play a full 48 minute game. We know we can play with anybody in the league, and we just had to go out and do it for 48 minutes,” said DeRozan.
